Less Time, Less Hassle

Next to placing a filling, a crown is the most common dental restoration. We can use crowns to cover up smile flaws, but more commonly, we’re using crowns to restore damaged teeth. That can mean teeth that have dental decay or teeth that have had root canals. A crown will keep the tooth looking great and functional for years to come. But the problem is often that dental offices have to take two or three visits to complete your crown procedure. Our office looked at this problem a few years ago and found a better way. The CEREC technology lets us completed your entire crown procedure in a single day, saving you time and hassle.

The same-day crown completely eliminates the need for a temporary crown. Dental offices use the temporary crown as a placeholder while they craft your permanent crown. This can take a few weeks or even a few months. The problem with temporary crowns is that they are not as lifelike as traditional crowns — they are generally made from acrylic material instead of porcelain or strong ceramic — and can cause sensitivity in your mouth. We’ve even heard stories from patients who had temporary crowns dislodge! That’s certainly not a hassle we want for our patients.

With CEREC, we’ll take a digital impression of the tooth and then send the image to a special in-office milling station. The milling station will immediately craft your permanent, all-ceramic crown. The entire process takes about 90 minutes. So, instead of needing two or three visits and wearing an ill-fitting temporary, you can complete the entire process is one long lunch break!

Digital Imaging Gives Us Precise Results

The digital imaging eliminates the guesswork. When it comes to dental crowns, the fit is everything. If the crown is too big or too small, it may not last as long as you’d like. The digital scan eliminates the need for goopy impressions and gives us accurate results. The technology gives us the perfect impression, and we can match the crown with the shade of your natural smile.

If you need a crown, you’ll want to find a dentist who can provide accurate results that will last for years to come. Using CEREC, we can give you a better smile fast. Give us a call today at 248-972-8720 or use our online form to schedule a visit.
