It was once said that even pearls are dark before the whiteness of teeth.

Indeed, a healthy smile can have more radiance, more beauty, and more glamour than any of the finest jewels in the world. For jewels can be bought and sold, but a smile is part of who you are; your natural teeth will travel with you wherever you go, and cannot be taken on or off like a necklace or a ring can.

That is all the more reason to make sure that you’re keeping your smile safe and secure from anything that might steal it away from you.

Yet when it comes to just that, you haven’t been keeping a watchful eye, have you?

Yes, letting your smile fall into ruin is like having something valuable stolen from you, only in this case it is worse because the pain of losing a tooth is more than just physical: It can severely damage your pride, which can make it hard to hold your head up as high as it deserves. Having your beauty taken from you out of neglect for your own oral health is extremely difficult, because unlike a valuable piece of jewelry, your smile is not so easily replaced.

Or is it?

CEREC Crowns and Bridges For Fast Smile Restoration

Despite what you might think you know about restorative dentistry, I can not only replace any missing or damaged teeth, but I can do so while enhancing your overall smile. And I can do it in just one simple afternoon appointment.

How is this possible?
Thanks to a process known as CEREC, I can design and craft crowns and bridges quickly and effectively, bypassing the need to have an outside dental laboratory make them, which will drive up costs and the time it takes to repair your smile.

CEREC stands for CEramic REConstruction, and is the name given to a type of machine that allows a Birmingham dentist like me to swiftly fabricate gorgeous, lifelike artificial teeth coverings and prosthetics, such as crowns (for one tooth) and bridges (for multiple teeth). By using a CEREC machine, I can reduce the amount of time and effort it takes to get you the high quality results you need, I can save us both the time and money it would take if I used an inferior, outdated process.

The benefits of a CEREC crown or a bridge aren’t just cosmetic, although they will surely improve your appearance make your smile a lot easier on the eyes.

A crown or a bridge can help keep your remaining teeth right where they should be. Letting those gaps remain will allow your natural teeth to “drift” over time, which will likely require a more intensive corrective therapy like braces to fix, which can take up to a year or more depending on how far they’ve drifted.

By completing or filling out your natural smile with a crown or a bridge, you can also chew safely once again. What do I mean by this? When you eat foods and suffer from missing teeth, the force of each bite will be unevenly distributed, which can cause your teeth to drift as mentioned above, as well as cause unnatural pain that could result in a misalignment of your jaw.

You will also be able to speak naturally once again. This is especially true if the teeth which need to be replaced or enhanced are front teeth. It’s hard to think of a greater benefit than being able to communicate with confidence and present yourself with proper self-esteem.

The process of getting a crown or a bridge is fairly simple. When you come in for your appointment, I will examine your smile and determine if that’s the way to go. Once that’s out of the way, I will then make a wax mock-up of your smile that will form the basis of the artificial covering.

Then I will prepare your mouth to receive the crown or bridge, which usually involves cementing them in place, or, if you opt for a more intensive process, securing them to a set of dental implants, which is a separate process.
Once you have your new crown or bridge, you can expect it last up to 15 years or more! All it takes is a little bit of regular daily maintenance, and of course semi-annual checkups with me to make sure everything is staying in its right place!
